Abstract:   (55 Views)
Aim: This study investigates the dimensions of mental health literacy and its relationship with quality of life among students at Zahedan University of Medical Sciences.
Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive study conducted a stratified cluster sampling method on 220 students in 2024. Data was collected using a mental health literacy scale and a quality of life scale. The data was analyzed by SPSS 24 using an Independent sample t-test, One-way ANOVA, and logistic regression. The means and standard deviations of mental health literacy and quality of life were 83.96 ± 7.62 and 33.98±6.22, respectively.
Findings: The results indicated that there was a significant relationship between mental health literacy and the quality of life of students. The results revealed significant correlations between mental health literacy and sex, education level, family history of mental illness, referral to a psychologist/psychiatrist, and place of residence (p < 0.001). The results revealed that there was a significant relationship between quality of life and sex, education level, and history of mental illness (p < 0.001). Univariate logistic regression analysis revealed that participants' ability to recognize mental disorders, knowledge of available professional help, and attitudes toward help-seeking behavior were significantly associated with a family history of mental illness.
Conclusion: Given the relationship between mental health literacy and quality of life among medical students, it seems essential to design and implement more educational interventions to enhance the level of mental health literacy among students.
