Abstract: (275 Views)
Aims: Tuberculosis is a chronic bacterial disease. This study aimed to identify the empowerment model of batik home industry workers in tuberculosis elimination that can serve as input regarding the empowerment model for the home industry workforce.
Participants & Methods: This mixed-methods research employed a sequential exploratory approach. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, snowball sampling interviews, and focus group discussions. The sample consisted of 99 batik home industry workers, selected using simple random sampling.
Findings: Social capital and health belief model constructs are important factors influencing workers’ willingness to engage in efforts to prevent and control tuberculosis. Social capital had a positive and significant effect on perceived benefits and adherence to medication. Additionally, data revealed that 92 participants (92.03%) held negative perceptions of tuberculosis patients, which influenced their willingness to take tuberculosis prevention measures.
Conclusion: A high level of seriousness regarding the TB threat exists among workers; however, they have a low perception of the benefits of TB prevention and a significant perception of barriers.
