Abstract
Aims: The systematic, comprehensive health education and promotion model, rooted in the theory of knowledge management, is an innovative tool within the education and health promotion system. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of an educational intervention utilizing the health education and promotion model on students’ health-promoting lifestyle, attitudes, and knowledge regarding diabetes prevention.
Materials & Methods: This quasi-experimental study involved 120 middle-aged women (divided into experimental and control groups). Data collection tools included knowledge, attitudes, and health-promoting lifestyle behaviours questionnaires. The experimental group received training based on the health education and promotion model, conducted by student trainers. Analysis was conducted using SPSS 22.
Findings: There were significant interaction effects between time and group for all parameters. Additionally, there were significantly different changes between follow-up and baseline in the intervention group for knowledge, attitudes, and the Health-Promoting Lifestyle Questionnaire scores.
Conclusion: The health education and promotion model is effective in enhancing attitudes, values, and knowledge.
